Who we are
MERED (“we”, “us”) is the controller of the personal data you provide when submitting an Expression of Interest (“EOI”) for Riviera Residences Phase II, Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi. We process personal data in accordance with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (“PDPL”), and other applicable laws.
What we collect
- Identity details: full name as shown in the passport, nationality, date of birth, gender, passport number and expiry date and, for UAE residents, Emirates ID number and expiry date.
- Contact details: email address, mobile number, residential address, city, country and country of residence.
- Copies of identity documents: passport and, for UAE residents, both sides of the Emirates ID.
- Your preferences: purchase route (direct or through a broker) and preferred unit type.
- Broker details, where applicable: agency name, trade licence, ORN and RERA registration numbers, agent name, BRN, email and mobile number.
- Your declarations and consents, with the time they were given and the version of their wording.
- Technical data: IP address, browser user agent, referring page and campaign (UTM) parameters, used for security and to understand how visitors find us.
Why we use it
- To register and manage your Expression of Interest and to contact you about availability, unit allocation and next steps.
- To verify your identity and carry out know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering checks required under Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018 and its implementing regulations.
- To prepare sale documentation if you decide to proceed with a purchase.
- To protect this website against fraud and abuse.
- To send you project news and launch updates — only if you have opted in. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
Legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent given on the EOI form, the steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract, and our legal obligations, in particular under UAE anti-money-laundering legislation. Marketing communications are sent only with your separate, optional consent.
Who we share it with
- Our CRM system and its provider, which we use to manage enquiries and customer records.
- Our affiliates and group companies involved in the sale and management of the project.
- Service providers acting on our behalf, such as hosting, data storage, security and communications providers, under confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- The broker or agency named in your submission, where you apply through a broker.
- Government authorities, regulators and real-estate registration bodies where required by law.
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside the UAE. Where this happens, we take the measures required by the PDPL to ensure your data remains adequately protected.
How long we keep it
If you purchase a unit, we keep your data for as long as required to perform the contract and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping requirements under anti-money-laundering laws. If you do not proceed, we keep your Expression of Interest and documents for no longer than necessary for the purposes above, after which they are deleted or anonymised, unless a longer period is required by law.
Security
Documents are uploaded over encrypted connections and stored in private storage. Access is limited to authorised staff who need it to handle your Expression of Interest.
Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the PDPL, you have the right to:
- obtain information about, and a copy of, the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure of your data, or restriction of its processing;
- object to processing, including for marketing purposes;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal;
- request transfer of your data to another controller where applicable;
- lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office.
Withdrawing consent to identity checks or data processing may mean we are unable to proceed with your Expression of Interest.
